Community Care Room – Kim & Raquel

The community Care room is a try to create a space in which, while loosing ourselves in joyful activities, we can pose questions of power, care and interdependencies.

Within the framework of the lab we want to create a physical space where we can read, write, listen and rest. A space where we can lose ourselves in small joyful activities, and which can transform into a nail salon as well as a massage parlor. For us, radical self-care, described by Angela Davis as "bringing the entire self to the movement", and the idea of community care are central.

In regular intervals we will also give linguistic, visual and haptic impulses for power-critical thinking about care, interdependencies and dependencies, and above all ask about the conditions it takes to enter into binding relationships with each other. However, the Community-Care-Room is not only meant to provide space for intellectual exchange, but also opportunities for a practice of sensual and atmospheric care.

For us, the Community-Care-Room represents an attempt to form an anti-capitalist and decolonial space in which we focus on processes and not on results or exploitability.
