During my time at Libken, I very much enjoyed dancing with the bee colonies on the property. I loved reading in the library in the morning, and taking long walks to the different forests around the area in the afternoon. I became very fascinated with the hunting towers that are scattered around the fields, and slowly formed a shared 'hunting practice' with Jitka Králová, another artist from the residency. Probably the most rewarding part of the two months was getting to bond with the six other artists - all women - through cooking dinners, practicing yoga, watching movies, swimming, and having late-night thought provoking discussions together.
Markéta (born 1997) is an artist and researcher based in Prague, Czech Republic. Her work is influenced by fields of psychology, phenomenology, and quantum physics; as well as on a personal level by instinct, spirituality, nature's intelligence, and the women who raised her. She graduated London Contemporary Dance School at The Place in 2023 with a Masters degree in Expanded Dance Practice. It was there she cultivated an interest in the possibilities of choreographing consciousness - her own, or the collectives. This inquiry continues to be a foundational pillar in her research.
