We Strengthen Democracy! – Workshops at the Libken Library

In the Gerswalde Library and the Libken e.V. Library, three events will take place in November and December as part of the “Land.schafft.Demokratie” funding program. This funding for small libraries in rural areas is awarded nationwide this year by the Federal Agency for Civic Education and the German Library Association to 15 libraries. We are very excited to be part of it.

Ecology from the Right: Far-Right Ideologies in Nature and Environmental Protection

Democratic actors in nature and environmental protection as well as (ecological) agriculture repeatedly face cooperation requests, co-opting strategies, and infiltration attempts from the right. What motivates far-right actors to engage in these fields? What are their goals? This workshop raises awareness of the historical and current connections between German nature and environmental protection and far-right ideologies. Participants will learn to identify anti-democratic and inhumane ideologies and thought patterns in nature and environmental protection. Based on this, possible courses of action for prevention and intervention can be developed and discussed.

Exclusionary and derogatory attitudes and statements confront us in both professional and private situations, often leaving us speechless. Current societal divides present additional communication challenges. Skills to respond are often lacking. But now more than ever, it is important to engage in dialogue and develop strategies. This workshop provides space for experience exchange and practical guidance.
